Sam Hubbard, MBA, CFA, CDFA

Founder and Managing Director of Coastal Capital Management

Sam established Coastal Capital Management as an independent registered investment advisor to stand apart from the commissioned-based firms. He is dedicated to offering transparency of fees, objective investing and decision-making that puts your interests ahead of ours. 

As a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in New York City for more than 15 years, he understands not only the practice of wealth management but also the benefits of flexibility and freedom an RIA affords. As founder of Coastal, Sam is committed to developing financial plans, asset allocation models and appropriate investment strategies.

Born and raised in Savannah, Sam graduated from St. Andrew’s on the Marsh. He received a BA in Spanish from Furman University, in Greenville, South Carolina, and an MBA, with a dual concentration in finance and management, from Fordham University in New York City. 

Sam also earned both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA™) designations as well as holds life, health and accident life insurance licenses. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the Atlanta Society of Financial and Investment Professionals (ASFIP), and the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (IDFA).

Sam is active in the local community, and is currently a member of:

  • St. Andrew's School Alumni Board (Board Member)

  • The CFO Council of Savannah (Board Member)

  • The Metropolitan Rotary Club

  • The Savannah Downtown Business Association

Sam also serves on the Investment Committee (IC) for the St. Andrew's School Endowment fund. Additionally, Sam has been accepted into the Leadership Savannah class of 2017-18. 

After spending the past 16 years in New York City, Sam is happy to return to Savannah with his wife and their two young sons. Sam enjoys running and biking, and completed the NYC Marathon in 2004. He is also proficient in Spanish.

 

Andrea Downs

Client Associate

Andrea is an enthusiastic and driven individual with a strong background in teaching and administration.  She has earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education and Administration from the University of Kentucky. Andrea has gained practical experience through teaching and administration, where she has honed her skills in relevant skills or competencies, including communication, leadership, organization, problem-solving, adaptability, time management, and interpersonal skills. In 2022, Andrea retired from a 23-year career in teaching, administration, and dance and performing arts.

Andrea, a native of Lexington, Kentucky recently relocated to Savannah with her husband. Drawn to the city's captivating charm and rich history since her first visit 15 years ago, Andrea always knew she would one day call Savannah home.

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys an active lifestyle filled with outdoor activities, dancing, exercise, and reading. Whether she's exploring the picturesque parks or immersing herself in a captivating novel, Andrea cherishes every moment spent in this vibrant city.
